Yes... and I'm HAPPY about that.  The baby wasn't the problem... the rapist was.  My daughter's best friend is the product of rape.  She has no clue of that fact, and her mother is a happy woman with 2 children and is married.  It doesn't matter how a child is conceived... they aren't the ones that should be killed.  Justice should be served by imprisoning the rapist... not killing an innocent baby.  Abortion is wrong- no matter what the reason for it is.

If I were to become pregnant as the result of a rape, then I would most certainly have the child.  It is not that child's fault how it was conceived, and he or she should not be murdered because of it.

Why is is wrong to give life to someone that has done nothing wrong? Millions of people have children so they can lay around the house and not work.  Many more have children because they know taxpayers will foot the bills. Murder is taking any life after it is started. Adoption is always an option and since taxpayers end up paying for everything why worry.  More can be gained by understanding life was started for a reason few understand than acting quickly to destroy something that God allowed to happen. Take the anger out on the rapist not the child.

But the real issue is that she believes the government should FORCE you to have the baby--that it would be a criminal act otherwise.

The real argument about abortions is who gets to make the decision:  the woman or the government.  It's ironic that the very same people who want the government to make women's reproductive decisions would fight vigorously to keep the government from making THEIR health decisions.

Hey, did you know that if I became pregnant after a rape I would have the baby?  Hey, did you know that when I was in HS I had a friend who was raped and had the baby and adopted it to a very grateful family?  Hey, did you know there's options other than abortion?

While I also believe that a woman has a choice, I don't think that Palin is going to overturn Roe vs Wade (no pro-lifer has yet, no matter the amount of power they have had.)  But I get pretty sick of people who are pro-choice but don't recognize that a woman also can choose to HAVE the baby in that situation and that it's not wrong and if anything noble.

Edit:  Do you want to know why there are so many kids in foster care and not being adopted?  It's because of parents not being willing to give the child UP until the child is just that, a child, not a baby.  Most babies are adopted before they're born, IF you can prove that father and mother are both on board with giving the baby up.  Rape cases, where the father is unknown, are easy to find adoptive homes because mom is the only one you have to have on board.  Rape cases where the father is known are more difficult, but usually he will lose his parental privileges because of the method of conception.  In the meantime, the adoptive parents usually can act as the foster parents, and the baby is typically found  a home before birth.

Yep and for this reason alone I can't understand why any woman would take Palin's side.  Even if a 14 year old girl gets raped and ends up pregnant she has to go through the pregnancy...it's like being punished twice.  Palin said her daughter made a CHOICE to keep her baby (and infact made a choice to hope in bed with her bf) so why can't a woman who was raped get to have a CHOICE too?

I do too.. and so far I still have the right to freedom of thought.. I'd rather the rapist were terminated than the innocent babe.. Even in incest.. the baby should still have the right to live.. None of the candidates outright say we have a right to abort. Regardless of their views, there will not be a universal law against abortion even if that is her goal, our country will not let that happn!!! Ultimately it will be up to the states to decide on that matter. I believe we should always have a choice, but I still will not vote for Obama even if that is her view.
