Question:

Girls, what types of makeup and what shades should I use?

I'm going into high school, and I've recently started using makeup. What types and shades would look best on me?

I have short brown hair with side bangs, and natural auburn/red highlights. I sort of have a big forehead :/. I have an oval shaped face, and I have almond shaped brown eyes. (If any of that helps...)

This isn't the best picture to use, but you can see my face pretty clearly.

Also, what should I do about my eyebrows?

Thanks so much !

  1. i use chanel..thats a really good brand but I'm not sure what  types of shades you should use. I use blue, but thats works for me, I'm not sure for you...but definitely use chanel

  2. Hi!!

    Uhm, well...

I'm thinking since you like the earthy tones, you should try like a light brown. Not like icky brown brown, but like a copperish color.

And as far as your eyebrows go, I'm not seeing a problem.

    :)

  3. Your makeup in the pic is great on you!! I would recommend a little blush too. I think Riverside Rose from NYC would look good on you. Apply with a larger blush brush. BTW Your eye makeup is stunning!

  4. Go with something natural and keep your look. There really is no need to put on make up at a young age. Make it look nice with subtle and light tones.

  5. Greens, plums and brown look great on brown eyes!

Best thing with eyeshadow colour.. is to just experiment.. and then you can see what loks good on you and what doesnt.

With your eyebrows, they are fine as they are... if anything just shape them a little.. and define them with a brow pencil. But to be honest, you dont really need to do anything to them.

Hope this helps.. if you need any help or have more questions.. send me a message

    :) x

  7. For more natural looks try these-

*a sheer was of shimmery peach on the lid, a mocha bronze shade in the crease, subtle charcoal eyeliner and your fav. mascara.

    * a "gold smoke"- use an eye base or paint in a sheer tan or golden shade and sweep it all over your entire lid, not forgetting to blend... then use a darker bronze shade and stay very close to your lower lid and lashes and lightly "pack it" on, use a subtle golden peach shade in the crease and then line eyes with a chocolate brown eye pencil and finish with your fav. mascara.

    for a medium-toned look-

*use a pretty aqua shade of eyeshadow on your entire lower lid as a wash, then apply a s**y sunburned peach or bronze in the crease. don't forget to blend with a pale shimmery ivory or highlighting shade and highlight your browbone! then try a swoop of dark bronze eyeliner on the top lid only or use a soft black eyeliner all around the entire eye (and blend it) then finish with your fav. mascara

    for a more bold look-

*use an eye paint or base in a turqouise shade for this "blue smoke" technique. Blend the base on the entire lower lid and then pat on a subtle charcoal grey shade on top of it and blend, then pat on a gorgeous deep ocean blue shade on top of that. Use a soft purple or pink or bronze in the crease and then highlight the browbone with a subtle pale shade. Break out the black eyeliner for this one and line your inner rims, upper lid and lower lashline. finish with 2 coats of your fav. mascara!

*for a s**y "going out ...neutral but bold look"-- use a pale ivory or soft white eye base and pat on a matte ivory or cream colored (very neutral) shadow on your lower lid. Then in the crease, using "windshield wiper" like motion with your wrist, apply a darker matte brown shade in the crease and make a V. Then blend the two with a matte highlighting shade.... and apply a dark brown powder or gel eyeliner on the upper lashline and lower lashline. Then finish with your mascara.

Select an eye shadow that complements your brown eye color. Brown, pink, blue and gold tones look great against the rich brown of your eyes. The cool hues contrast well against warmer eye tones and will brighten the eyes to make them pop. Choose a shade lighter than your eyes for a natural, clean look or a shade darker for a sultry, dramatic feel. Choose a dark liner in a shade that best matches your eye shadow. Navy or plum tones work well with the blue and purple shadows. A traditional, black liner will deliver a dramatic effect and really make your brown eyes shine.Use black mascara to open and brighten your eyes. Designed to thicken and lengthen lashes, mascara is a must for any eye color, but for brown eyes classic black mascara will highlight the warm, rich hue of your eyes.  Keep the rest of your makeup minimal to draw attention to your eyes. Choosing neutral shades of lip and cheek color will keep the focus on your eyes and deliver a beautiful, clean look.
