  1. I really like Macy and Violet. Macy's very cute and they're both very girly.

I don't like Lottie, it sounds more like a nickname to me.

  2. I love Piper. It's a nice name, unique and you could call her Pip as a nickname, if you like.

Ivy is really nice. It's different. but not out there.

Liesel is a nice German name that most people have heard of.

Lila my favorite name so far.

and  Annika because its beautiful and unique.

  3. Esme means name in farsi

    aria is guys name

IVY reminds me of poison ivy

i don lik any of um but i lik lilia

  4. Lottie

  5. my fave is Blair, and to be honest, i hate the rest

  6. Odette

    Felicity

    Leila

    Lydia

    Blair

  7. i like iris its good 2 b uniqu

  8. Blair. I have always loved the name; the others seem a little to unique for mee!!

I do know an Octavia though!

  9. Piper is my favorite name on your list. I used to baby sit a little girl with the name Piper and everyone loved the name and she was so adorable!

  10. Eliza Harper - paired like that!!  Love love love this name heaps!

Macy and Piper are also cool :)

  11. Lilia

  12. I LOVE:

Cecelia -- This name is gorgeous.  It's frilly and Victorian, but it shortens easily to more usable nicknames, like Lia, Celia, or Ciel.  It's a good Sophia-alternative for those who want a less common name.

Eliza -- I love this one!  Because of its rhythm, it also makes a great middle name.  It would be perfect for someone who wanted to use the middle name Elizabeth to honor a family member but wanted something a bit less predictable.  I love names with a literary background, and Eliza was one of the sisters in "Jane Eyre."

Elsa -- This is my favorite Ava or Ella alternative.  It's sweet, simple, and old-fashioned, but it's not insanely popular.  It makes me think of the girl in Casablanca, although I believe she spelled her name differently.

Eloise -- Also in my top 5.  It's so deliciously French, and it makes me think of the spunky little girl in the Eloise books by Kay Thompson.

Iris -- This is one of the most grown-up flower name choices, and it seems a bit more substantial and mysterious than the others.

Lydia -- This WAS in my top 5, but I think Eloise has just pushed it down to #6.  It's a great biblical name; Lydia was a noblewoman who significantly helped the Apostle Paul.  It's lyrical and pleasing on the ears, but it would also give a daughter a strong role model to follow.

Nora -- Nora is so sweet and old-fashioned.  I love two syllable "a"-ending names, especially those that sound very classic (like Clara, Nora, Elsa, and Willa).

Ophelia -- This has long been a favorite of mine.  It would be a daring choice for a daughter, especially since so many people are familiar with the literary Ophelia's madness and demise, but I've always been drawn to the innocence and loyalty of Ophelia, so I wouldn't hesitate to use it on a child.  It's a fabulous alternative for the overused Olivia.

Octavia -- This is another fabulous Olivia-alternative, though I must say I like Ophelia a bit more.  However, Octavia a pretty Roman name and a good classic choice.

Rosalie -- This one is currently in my top 5.  I also like Rosalind, because of its Shakespeare connection, but my husband likes this one better.  It's softer and a bit more feminine.

Violet  -- One of the prettiest flower names!  It's so sweet an innocent, and I wish it would get a bit more recognition.  We have so many little Lilys running about; why not more Violets?

    I DISLIKE:

Elsie, Lottie, Livia, Livy -- This are all cute nicknames, but I don't like them by themselves.  They seem juvenile and incomplete.

Odette -- This name does sound a bit odorous and odious, as someone else already pointed out.  I'm not crazy about the "-ette" names -- the French names I like usually have softer endings, like Adele, Madeleine, Eloise, and Rosalie.

Viola -- This one isn't awful, but I can't help thinking of Viola Swamp, the evil substitute teacher in the "Miss Nelson is Missing" books, whenever I hear it.  Violet is just so much sweeter.

Blair -- I've never been fond of this one for some reason.  It strikes me as a bit of a soap opera name.  When I was little, my cousin used this as the name for one of her Barbie dolls, and I think she'd pulled it off some daytime drama.

Macy -- It seems too modern/trendy, especially because of the singer Macy Gray.  It's not bad, but I'd much prefer to be named something classic.

    THE OTHERS:

The rest of the names I have a good amount of respect for and I frequently suggest to other people, but they haven't yet won a special place in my heart.

  13. Harper... To Kill a Mockingbird...nuff said

  14. All of my answers assume two things:  first, you're a US resident, second, these names don't belong to family members.

Aria                    3 In texas we'd say air-e-a.  I might feel better about Aria if it was pronounced Au-re-a.

Annika                5  I can see a child/teen, but what about when she gets older.  I don't know any old  ladies named Annika.

    Aurelia                8 Beautiful

Blair                    2 There was a mean Blair on my soap, so I am prejudiced against this name.

Brier                   2 Sounds like Briar, and we don't like briars.

    Cecilia                 3 I just don't like it.

    Emilia                  8 I like it.

Eliza                    8 Reminds me of Eliza Doolittle, and that's good.

Elsa                     2 Just doesn't roll off my tongue gracefully.

Elsie                    3 In TX, Elsie is the cow spokesperson for Borden dairy products.

Esme                   7 Mysterious, but in a good way.

Eloise                   2 Seems old to me.

    Felicity                 8 Happy name

Harper                  2 Harper is someone who won't stop nagging, harping.

    Ivy                        5 It's ok

    Iris                        5 it's ok

    Lucia                     8  It's a light-filled name.

    Lottie                     1 A 19th century name.

Livia                       6 A record number of people are naming their kids olivia.  Leaving the O out distinguishes your daughter's name from the others.

Livy                        0  I don't know how to pronounce this, let alone rate it.

Liesel                     5 Remember, it rhymes with diesel.

    Lilia                        7 Nice

    Macy                      4 OK

    Nora                       2 Sounds old

    Odette                      0 Odette is odious.

Ophelia                   3 Are you trying to give your child a name that will cause her trouble?  This is a hideously ugly name.

    Octavia                    2 Ditto above

Piper                       8 Unusual, but nice.  Makes me think of the sand piper bird.

    Rosalie                     6 Pretty old

    Trudy                       5 Pretty old

Viola                        7 Since Violet has come back into popularity, Viola can ride it's coattails.

    Violet                       9 Beautiful

Aurelia, Emilia, Eliza, Felicity, Lucia, Piper and the winner, Violet

  15. Favorite is Lilia.

    Least favorite...Liesel...there are a bunch I don't like...

  16. Fave

    Blair (its a pretty name)

Livy  (its also a pretty name)

I hate the rest cause i just dont like the rest and also i really hate nora but this is just my oppion

  17. Top Faves:Emilia, Felicity, Lydia, Nora and Violet

Least: Annika, Ivy, Livy, and Odette.

Emilia - sweet, pretty and traditional.

Felicity - charming name, I really like this one.

    Lydia - so cute.

Nora - cute but classy for when she's older, this one is my favorite!

    Violet - beautiful name.

Annika - just not a fan. I do like the name Kanica though.

Ivy - pretty name, weird thoughts.

Livy - just don't like it.

Odette - kinda reminds me of a dog's name. I have no idea while though.

  18. Best, Cecilia. Classy, old fashioned, and not overused.

Worst, Brier. Why would you name a beautiful baby girl after a thorny hedge?

  19. Violet is my absolute favorite name, not only from your list but in general lol.  It's gorgeous, cute and quirky.  I just love everything about it lol.  She sounds like she'd be an interesting, independent and creative person.  I also love girls' names that don't end in -a, like many do.  Names like this leave you room to pick out middle names or sibling names or whatever ending in -a (double -a endings bother me lol; like Anna Sophia - it's just too sing-song-y for me).

I actually love a lot of the other names on your list (Aurelia, Annika, Brier, Eliza, Eloise, Emilia, Esme, Felicity, Lucia, Liesel, Lilia, Nora, Piper, Rosalie, to name a few lol).  Names like Annika (or Anneke), Esme and Lucia are a bit exotic sounding to me, while others like Brier, Eliza, Felicity and Piper sound just awesome and spunky.  Even others are just pretty names, like Eloise, Emilia, Liesel, Lilia, Nora and Rosalie.

The ones I don't like include Blair (seems like a bitchy person to me, or at least a type-A kind of girl), Lottie (I love it, but just as a nickname for Charlotte, not as a given name lol), Macy (reminds me of either the department store or an '80's mallrat lol), Odette (too similar to the word odor for me, but I actually think it could be cute as a middle name), Octavia (just too heavy of a name for me), and Trudy (reminds me of a slightly annoying, mousy nerd-girl lol).

    Good luck!
