Girls and guys in america ...?

i was wondering...girls in america call there friends who are girls "girlfriends" do boys also use this term? so if your a guy with a friend whos a girl, do you also call her a girlfriend? thanks for answers x

I would call a female friend just a "friend".

Nope - "girlfriends" is usually used just between girls and couples. A boy will call the girl he's dating his "girlfriend" but his other friends, who are girls, usually don't get any gender recognition, just end up being called "friend", "buddy", or "guy" like all the other guys.

No. I separate the term into girl friend unless I mean to suggest a stronger connection. Or, friend works just as good.
