  1. Used to play a lot of sports, including social football. ie not organised teams, but gr8 fun.

Don't know if most women are designed for the modern organised game - which emphasises height, reach, lean muscle mass, and lengthy and continuous speed, none of which are universal in women. Or even in men.

I am not calling soccer a "girls' game" - not that that is an insult! - but women's lower centre of gravity and greater stamina would recommend soccer as a better game for most women.

Had I a daughter of sporting age, I would suggest soccer, for which there are teams everywhere, girlz included..

  2. Its funny that when Geelong, the team known as the "hand baggers" for years, win a flag for the first time in 40 years,  there is also more womens teams, meaning, more players arriving at games with hand bags than ever before!    The rules have been milked to such an extent, with the biff and braun removed from  the blokes game, to appease mothers, so as to allow little Matty to play.     Whats even funnier, the women / mothers,  play an aggressive style, with one TV highlight showing a "Lady" king hit the opponent who pulled her PONY TAIL...it was the best right hook I have ever seen on a footy field .    Enjoy playing the game, just dont pull pony tails .

  3. Football is not for girls. I learnt the hard way. I played football as much as my mum told me not to cause it's realy bad for my body... guess what happened... I tore me anterior crucate ligament, I had to have a knee reconstruction, then my knee got infected. I am to be in a brace for 6 more months, I've been on crutches for about 4-5 months. My initial injury was August, my knee reco was September, my operation for my infection was January and I can't play sport again until Jan next yr. That is from September '07 until  January '09... Its not worth playing footy for that, trust me.

  4. i think  that girls should be able to play football for school it is not fair because some girls know how to play better than the guys in ways. <3 louisa
