  1.   Hi I think it is wonderful that you are playing basketball, especially that you had the guts to go out for it freshman year, (im also your same age and know how tough it is going to be).

One thing that i did that helped me to get good with the coach is that I asked him what offense we were running, a year and a half before I entered high school lol.  It did wonders and make him recognize who I was.  If the coach tells you study the offense like your life depended on it.

It might be a bit too late for this, but try to get into as many camps as you can.  Mow lawns, babysit, and even bakesales are good money raisers for this because these guys cost allot.  Try to get the coaches' lawns, or children so he knows your trying.

Another thing is to go to the library and check out books and movies, Pistol Pete has a great serries that helps a ton.

Finally, be ready athleticly.  Ride your bike wherever and even try to get into the weight room a little.  If your school has a weight room, ride your bike into it and get yourself on a workout schedule.  If you still have energy, go and work out.  Try this itleast 4/week.

Overall, this sounds like allot of work, and it is, but I promise it is all worth it in the end.  If you truly learn to love the game than it will love you back.  Good luck this year and most importantly, learn something from it!!!

I also stuck in some websites I used quit a bit this year.

  2. free throws

  3. Well I'm trying out for the Freshmen team too. If you never had any sports experience then that could maybe be tougher on you. I would suggest holding off one year and going to a basketball camp, to master your skills. I played basketball since 7th grade so I have more competitive experience. My coach even gave my name to the High School coach that I'm going to. But I'm just sayin sit this year out, go to a camp and tryout next year.

  4. Since you've never played,  i highly recommend that you practice your layups.  If you can't make a layup you won't make the team.  Its not hard at all either.  Show them you have some type of B-Ball ability

Good luck and I hope you acheive your dream one day..... it's definatly possible

  5. I have seen girls start the game "late" and still do well in time, so go for it.  Work on defensive stance and footwork, dribbling with either hand and changing hands easily and quickly, passing accurately and quickly and on your shooting.
