  1. Once you are sexually active or are 18 years old, that is the time to go. And the visits are fine. Just ask for a female Dr., you will be fine. It's not that bad, if they do an exam, take some ibuprofen first, to help you relax your muscles. Relax during the exam or it will be more uncomfortable. It's just a swab of the cervix, and she checks to make sure your ovaries are okay.. it's quick. Good luck.

  2. Girls are starting to go at an earlier age, even before s*x, because there are new tests that can be done to see your chances of having cervix cancer. My friend was ordered to do this because she wanted to go on birth control to make her periods lighter (i had to as well) but she had to go because they needed to test her blood to see if she could even have birth control.

  3. Have you started your period yet? and do you use tampons?

If not- the gynecologist won't be able to do much with you...

My sister had some issues, and went to go seek help from them, but since she had not used tampons before, the doctor told her to start using them to loosen her up down there before he did anything with her

  4. I didn't start going to the Gyno until after I started having s*x.  Seems like the right time to me.  I have gone every year since.

  5. Try to relax, it's not that bad.  I still HATE to go, so I understand how you are feeling.  I have had 4 children, you'd think I would be "over it" by now.  But every time I go, I always say to myself after "that wasn't so bad".  The anxiety gets to people.  When you go for the first time, you will meet the Dr. first in his office.  Then the Nurse will take you to the room and have have you get changed into a gown with everything else removed.  The Dr. usually does a breast exam and then uses a speculum to preform a Pap smear.  Good luck!
