  1. Yes! I play rugby. It's a really great game. It's a great way to interact with people. You make friends not only on your team, but with people on other teams as well.

  2. Rugby is an acquired taste ... like rough and tumble?  Go for it.

I'd be willing to bet, however, that the majority of other people in it have taken rougher sports such as Lacross.

  3. Go for it girl

It is a good sport if you don't mind a bit of contact.

Your coaching staff will also show you how to protect yourself in various situations so have no fear.

    B.

  4. heck yes! im a girl and i love rugby <333

oh and usually girls play touch rugby so you dont have to worry about getting hurt as much

actually my schools try outs are in 2 days, i cant wait!

  5. I think playing rugby in college was one of the best decisions i made!  My teammates are the only friends i continue to keep in contact with after 15 years.  I have made the best of friends... more like family... im in all their weddings, god mother to their children, etc....

Most colleges offer CLUB rugby... yours may have an intermural team that does touch rugby... but if you play club...depending on if you're in the USA... you will play tackle and travel to other schools . "club" means the college doesnt give you much $ for travel, uniforms, etc... so keep that in mind when you're considering the options- you'll be paying out of pocket for the most part to travel... and you'll probably pay dues.  intermural is typically played between students at the same university- like flag football... it wouldnt be tackle i dont think!

Some colleges offer womens varsity rugby- there are only 4 in the USA right now though.  these are funded more by the college and considered a "real" sport- one they can give scholarships for... but also one they can control more through NCAA standards.

Most cities that are large enough have womens rugby teams and you could continue playing after college.  I still play and im 32.

... oh and did i mention the rugby parties are the absolute best?  :-)  be prepared to be hazed a little as a rookie!

  6. If you like to play rugby, then by all means try out!  I wouldn't... not into rough contact sports and I don't want to get sweaty or dirty.  I've seen rugby games and the guys are covered in dirt and sweat and grass!

  7. Absolutely s**y!

  8. Please do try. Its a very enjoyable game. All universities in England have women's team.

  9. absolutely try out! im in grade 11 at my high school, and my friends got me to try out for my school team in grade 10...i was a bit skeptical at first (being 5'3" and 112lbs - small!) but I LOVE rugby its an amazing sport. we play full contact rugby, and it can get kinda rough, but its a really great sport all the same.

  10. I'd say go for it.  If I didn't have a fear of pain, I'd certainly try out.

  11. Yes, I think you should.

I love rugby myself and playing on a varsity team is an amazing experience (or so I've heard-I'm still in high school). Even if you don't make the team you should ask if you can help out with anything. It could help out your chances for next year and you could still learn a lot from watching the team practice and play.

And incase you've never played rugby before, its actually an easy sport to learn. It seems like a mess at first but its actually pretty structured and fun.

  12. I used to coach a womens rugby team. Those women had the time of their lives and learnt things that they never though would come from playing rugby, team work, a new respect for themselves, brother/sister in arms and in the case of one of the ladies in the team 'it's not alright for your husband to hit you' he came to a game being a big tough guy, got lippy to his wife and was promptly sat on his ar$e by one of the ladies from the other team

  13. If men can play netball and women can play soccer(football), basketball, golf cricket etc, why not play rugby!! After all, england is the second best team in the world in womens rugby behind nz.

    I say go for gold!

  14. Of course, and don't get caught up it the idea that all female ruggers are butch. I play and let me say some of the lady ruggers i have seen around are very attractive.

  15. WELL HEY THERE!

I am on the Womens Rugby Team at WVU!!! and let me just say we would love to have you! We will be starting our spring season around the end of january!

Unlike what some people on here say, we, along with everyone else in our division play full contact Rugby. two hand touch is for sissys haha!

We play Club rugby but the university does give us money to help with expenses.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me!

Hope to see you in the sping!

    LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS
