Girls please help. About shaving!?

I am about to start the 7th grade in September and my mom won't let me shave my legs! I shave my armpits with the spray hair removal thing because I have a lot of hair there. But my legs are not THAT bad, they're just...not nice. She says that I shouldn't be shaving at my age because it will make my legs even more hairy when i'm older, and she doesn't want them to look bad, but everyone always makes fun of me at school saying that I don't shave my legs ):

I had the same problem, when I was in your age. I did not want to shave my legs, because I knew, they become more hairy...I bouhgt a epilation machine and did it that way.

I know, it's painful, but your legs would last smooth for a long time! And this method also reduces hair...

well what i would say is this if you don't hairy legs then have your mom  shave then.and then if she gives you permssion go on and shave.believe me my mom didn't trust me with a razor either at one point,but now she does and my grandma still doesn't,but anyway,ask your mom first.

you should compromise and tell her u will wax insted waxing doent make the haire grow   back picky, like waxing .

Tell he rthat they make fun of you in school. If she still says no, ask her to compromise and let you use Nair or Veet in shower hair removal cream.

I understand your pain. My mom was the same way and I stayed in pants for a long time until middle school. My older sister took pity on me and taught me how to shave. My mom was really angry with both of us. It ended up being a weird conversation about hair, men, and women's sexuality. There is a point where grown woman start doing weird things to their body to make them look like little girls to be "s**y". (This is a word that makes every woman over the age of 25 cringe when they hear anyone under the age of 18 say it) My mom was also really worried that shaving your legs will "invite" boys to touch my smooth legs or that it was something more sinister than not wanting to be teased. Id never seen her this upset or worried before but going behind her back made her even more worried that I was going to be trouble growing up. All that drama over hairy legs!

So it might be something else than making your legs grow hairier. She might be worried you are trying to be "s**y" when that is so so wrong for anybody in middle school to be worrying about. Talk to your mom about it again. Do the research online (not on Yahoo Answers) how that doesnt happen and show her the results. Talk to her about the teasing over this beauty problem and how you would like to learn how to shave just your legs from your mom. Ask her when she thinks it is reasonable to shave and see if you guys cant compromise.

I can't argue with your mom, and don't go behind her back just because people in an on-line community tell you to. I just have on thing to say. It is physically IMPOSSIBLE for your hair to be "hairier" when you get older. Your hair has a follicle, and that follicle cannot change simply by shaving the hair off. Do what your mother tells you to, but just know that when you do start shaving, your hair pattern and how much it grows will not be affected at all.

Explain to your mom how what she says is utter bull s^%t, and just an old wives tale. If she keeps insisting, just sneak a razor and shave em. wear pants or something for a while so your mom doesnt notice.

just so u know,once u shave ur legs ur a slave 2 it.every time i feel a prick on my legs i want 2 go shave it off.talk 2 ur mom about being teased and maybe she will listen.whatever u do don't go behind her back and shave.i did that and moms can make u feel really guilty.lol

Shaving does NOT make the hair grow more when you are older. It is genetics. Go shave when she is not home. It is not nice to be made fun of.

My mother used to do this to me too! But you know what? It's BS. The hair doesn't grow back twice as hard or double the amount. I've been shaving since I was 14 and when I let the hair on my legs grow back, they're the same as they were many years ago. She just feels that it'll look trashy for your age. She just doesn't understand how degrading it is at school. I disobeyed my mother and shaved anyway. She never found out because I would wear long jeans to school and take some capri pants to change into when I got there. Finally she figured it out and she accepted it.

It sounds like you'll feel more confident and happy at school if you shave your legs, so you should! I started around your age too.

Just remember to shave with a quality soap or cream and use a new razor as much as possible. I shave from my ankles to my knees because that's where the most noticeable hair grows.

Does your mother know that you're being made fun of? You really ought to tell her, she might be a little more understanding if she realizes that you're being humiliated.  If you have told her and she still doesn't sympathize, just start shaving them using her razor or the hair removal spray.  There's really no way she can stop you if you're in the shower.

I can understand why she might not want you to start this young, but it's causing you too much trouble by not shaving.  I remember what it was like to get made fun of about stuff like that, and it really sucked.  There were days that I didn't want to go to school.  Make sure your mom understands what the other kids are putting your through.  Besides, it's pretty appropriate to start shaving your legs once you get your period/start developing b*****s.  You should NOT say this next part to your mom but she might be having a hard time accepting that her little girl is growing up, and the prospect of you doing something as adult as shaving your legs might scare her a little bit.  She also might not realize that nowadays most girls do start shaving their legs around your age.  Anyways, I hope this has been helpful!

well they mad a hair removal called nair tht u dnt get cut or anything when u are in the shower u spray it on like shaving cream and then before u get out take the spong tht comes wit it and wipe it off u r sure to have no hair on ur legs it is good ir u shave constantly cause u have to start some time i stsarted when i enetered 7th grade tro

I don't think you should shave your legs because the hair grows back really quickly and usually spiky and thicker....you should wax your legs because that way your hair wont grow back for at least 3 to 4 weeks and sometimes the hair does grow back finer. Waxing does hurt but its a lot better than shaving, you can get hot wax or cold waxing stripes from the company VEET. hope that helps!
