Girls swim team question?

im just joining a swim team. im 15. i havent swam for a team before but ive been told i have like natural talent, my time for 50 free is 31 and thats w.out a flip turn and a bad start [im not good w. blocks]. i was also really out of shape when i did this race.

so i was just wondering what good times for the 50 frree are and how many seconds i can shave off by being in shape, learning how to get off the blocks well, and doing flip turns.

Heeeeey,

Your 50 free time is fine for a novice 15 year old without a descent start or turn.

Begin training with an experienced coach and make a commitment to train 10-11 times per week (sprinters might be able to get away with 7-8 times per week) and you should be able to drop this quickly.

I think you should know that starting to compete at age 15 is late in the game for swimmers (especially girl swimmers-okay Dara Torres is a freak and I doubt you'll see a 41 year old swimmer again for a while. But remember Dara had the back ground at an early age and was in the Olympics the first time around by age 17).

Good times are relative. Here are some examples though:(these could vary depending on where you live)

To make the JV team:

50 free girls: 30

To make the Varsity team:

50 free girls: 27

To make the HS district finals

50 free girls: 26

To make the HS state finals:

50 free girls: 24+

To make Nationals

50 free girls: 23.89

This should give you a set of times that you can use as a yardstick as you continue to re-evaluate your goals with.

u have a good time with a bad start nd turn nd unfit. that's pretty good just train 4 those things nd u can take off bout 2-3secs easy nd more if u train properly. nd its ok if ur late cuz i am 14 nd started dis yr which is still kinda late nd i make nationals nd stuff
