What is interesting in it? Sometimes I want to get something nice and then I would look something up on the internet or try finding it in a shop, but I could never spend more than five minutes on a shopping website! I would get pretty bored I think. At work during lunch I see girls constantly looking at bags, shoes, dresses on the web and I am wondering is there something secret and magical about it that I fail to see?

I love food but I wouldn't want to spend hours looking at finest french chesses! And just because I like my jumper I wouldn't wan't to look at ALL the jumpers in the universe... So what is the deal?

  1. It was explained to me that sometimes when people have a shopping addiction or spend more time than necessary shopping it is because they may be lonely.  Shopping is a way to be around people without having to connect - in other words they can socialize and be around people without having to actually open up themselves and communicate - except the routine "thank you".   Excessive spending when shopping sometimes can be a sign of bi-polar disorder.

  2. its an addiction!!!

  3. i don't like this habite

  4. i just hate shopping, end of.food .clothes,whatever.not my thing.i like fashion etc and get cosmo to my door.but i find shopping stressful.i just buy quailty and classic if i do go.it lasts then so i dont have to bother much.i buy food online.xmas is bad for me so i do it last min, smash an crab.

  5. omg it's just so fun! there's so much stuff out there in the world. it's fun to look at all the new things and all the things u want. and then getting new things is just so exciting! i love being able to wear, use, etc. my new things. it's great to be able to save up money and then spend a whole day on a shopping spree. idk how ppl can't love shopping and getting new things. it's so FUN!

  6. I'm actually far far worse than my other half for shopping.

  7. I looove shopping but hate spending.. if that makes sense?

  8. I really hate to shop...Its hard for me to find clothes that i really like because i am big..( ie fat)... i especcially hate shopping in the spring because all the stores have the shirts with the little cap sleeves...even on the bigger sizes..which i loathe!

i often end up buying men's shirts because the sleeves arelonger..

fall and winter is a bit better since the sleeves are longer.

  9. I don't like shopping. It's stressful. I just like looking great, but I  have such a hard time finding things that I like that I have to trawl the shops, and I believe that process is known as "shopping". :)

  10. i like looking for quite a while whats on offer at the shops bt its just your own personal interest. other girls like shopping online whereas you dont.

  11. I can spend hours and hours in bookshops.  And if I get on amazon, I can be there all day if I let myself.  I also like shopping for bath things, Lush is my favourite, but I don't get to go there very often, the nearest branch is 40 miles from where we live now.  Ordering from them by mail just isn't the same, i want to be able to go into their shop and inhale the wonderful smells.  I don't spend a lot of time looking at clothes by comparison, books and bath things are my two favourite things to shop for.

  12. I hate wasting time looking for what I call "ego enhancers".  Really - if you think about it, this is what possessions are.  I mean, why do some people have to have Prada?  Because if everyone could afford it, Prada wouldn't be so "special"..... and neither would the owner of it.

  13. It's quite a mystery.  As to why anyone would solely seek to spend loads of money on items that may be used up to two times if said item is lucky.

Wise man once said.  Women enjoy shopping, men enjoy having the item.

Though I think it would be better said that children are more prone to shopping and acquiring things for the sake of acquiring them while adults purchase what they need and make good use of it for some time to come.

My girlfriend stares at online stores (jewelery, clothing, vacations, ect...)  all day long, with no intent or ability to purchase any of it.  Absolutely baffling.  Another baffling phenomenon:  women who own 30+ pairs of shoes and/or pants and don't even wear a quarter of them.  Some even own 100+  Totally insane.

Makes me wonder if buying frivolous things is like shooting up with drugs for these people.  It's sick and twisted, but just may be the case.  Could be highly susceptible to all the ridiculously stupid ads circulating our media.  Childish, indeed.

  14. if you don't like it, don't do it. pure and simple. i enjoy boating...doesn't mean that everyone else enjoys it.

actually, the reason we spend so much time looking at clothes and things is we are looking for the ONE...the article that just screams at us.

if you don't get it, you never will. and that's fine. doesn't make you any less of a woman, just means you'll probably have more of your paycheck left over every month! :)

  15. I asked my ex wife once and tried to imagine this. It's because the shopping experience is emotional. Like when some women shop they don't just shop for one item. They shop for matching outfits, matching shoes, what looks best with my blue sweater, or what shoes would look good with this dress?

Most women have more choices, more styles and more colors to choose from then men do. Many men are afraid to wear something that they would be uncomfortable to wear. Some men don't carry handbags, or purses, they call them messenger bags.

Most women wear make-up and cosmetics, color or style their hair differently with the different outfits they wear. They could wear their hair short, long, down or up, wrapped around a ponytail or a bun. Most men wear their hair the same all the time. If they color it, they probably do not color it as often as women do. More choices for women.

Go into a cosmetic and hair products store. They have many more choices for hair products for shiny, body, style, colored or treated hair. Mascara, eye shadow, lips and nail color. Some men might wear eyeliner but usually because a woman friend has suggested it.

However, the biggest reason women love to shop is the bargains they find. Like a $100 handbag that sells for $20, or a designer pair of jeans marked down to $ 30. So, I think it's really the hunt for bargains, plus the many choices in clothing, accessories and shoes that allow most women the emotional upward feeling of shopping than men do. Most women are frugal, most men are not.

Some men will spend maybe an hour, the longest time they ever will spend) in a Home Depot looking at all the tools, powered drills, lawn care tractors, etc. which is a lot less time than most women will spend in one day of shopping.
