Girolamo favoured in the Bet365 Gordon Stakes by Group 1 winning connections
The Group 3 Bet365 Gordon Stakes has pulled together some exceptional talent for the mile and four furlong race at Goodwood on Tuesday, 31st July. The presence of seven three-year-old runners is highlighted by those who have either struck a back-to-back through the most recent races or have been placed in the latest attempts.
The winner of the Group 3 event will get to take home the £34,026 prize money.
Michelangelo and Encke would be visiting the winners’ enclosure for a straight third if either of them wins today.
The three-year-old German bay colt, Girolamo, is not the most anticipated entry only because of getting placed in the Group 1 German race, but he is supported by the trainer and jockey team of P. Schiergen and A. Starke who have graced their record with the Arc and the recent success with Danedream in the Group 1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
The racing career of Dai Jin’s bay colt began with breaking the maiden on 18th March, 2012 at Krefeld (Germany) over a mile and half a furlong. This was the first and the last time that the German bay colt landed a race as the four upcoming outings did not qualify him as the winner.
Three out of the four attempts were in graded company which has surged his chances for winning the race today to 4 to 1.
The bay colt out of mare, Golden Time, ended seventh in the Group 3 Preis Der Swk – Dr Busch-Memorial on 22nd April, 2012 at Krefeld over a mile and half a furlong.
The disappointment of the failure led to a listed race, Iffezheimer Derby-Trial on 19th May, 2012 at Baden-Baden, in which the three-year-old parked into the third place.
His most appealing performance was in the Group 1 Sparda 143 Deutsches Derby on 1st July, 2012 at Hamburg over a mile and four furlongs.
The race was won by, Pastorius.
He is backed by one of the strongest connections for the 2012 season till yet however, he will need to work on improving from the third position in the Group 1 event. Having raced in Group 3 and above should aid the colt in notching the ranking in the race today.
