With Arsenal signing Olivier Giroud, many believed that the team went on to bring in the striker to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380. However, Giroud has gone on to insist that, that is not the case.
Last season, Van Persie went on to show just what he could do, when he plays out a whole season, without getting injured. The striker went on to score thirty goals in the league and went on to pick up numerous awards for his performances.
However, with him not putting pen to paper on a contract extension, no one was quite sure what the forward wanted to do in the future.
With him not committing to the club and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 signing Giroud, everyone put two and two together and assumed that the French international was coming in to replace the Gunners captain.
However, Giroud feels that these rumours are absolute rubbish and insisted that he is actually looking forward to playing alongside the Dutch international.
When speaking of his move to Arsenal and about his plans of playing alongside Van Persie, the forward is quoted to have said: “I haven't come to take the place of Van Persie. It would be stupid of me to think this.”
"He had a great season. He scored 30 goals and he has a great credibility here.”
"Van Persie, you can say he is left-footed, like me, but I am confident that we can play together."
Just like Van Persie, Giroud also had a very successful run last season. He went on to win the Golden Boot for being the Ligue 1’s leading goal scorer. At the same time, he went on to claim the league title with Montpellier.
He then went on to reveal that he is now looking to play for Arsenal and hopes to be able to recreate the same form and class that the club’s French legends showed in their time with the team.
"When I was little boy, I wanted to play in the Premier League. My heart has always looked for Arsenal.”
"I saw they had [Thierry] Henry, there were also [Patrick] Vieira and [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222] Pires. A true French touch.”
