The Villarreal striker has stated his desire to follow in the footsteps of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940, who fought against injury on his way to lifting the 2006 World Cup.
The former Manchester United striker is currently out with a knee injury which has put doubts over his selection in the Euro 2012 squad.
Even though the attacker would recover before the tournament, there have been concerns whether he will have proper match fitness for the tournament.
Cesare Prandelli has been vocal about his striking problems, and has stated his desire to keep a check on his preferred strike-force for the Italian national team. Prandelli has not hidden the fact that his
preferred partnership is that of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giuseppe-Rossi-c15027.
The Italian tactician has had the misfortune of losing both his strikers with a spell on the sidelines. Cassano is recovering from his heart surgery, whereas Rossi is doing likewise on his knee surgery.
The Villarreal player is working hard to attain fitness ahead of the tournament, and has stated his desire to be successful in the Euro 2012, he remarked:
“I dream that the European Championship can end for me in the same way that Totti’s World Cup 2006 did. Italy boss Cesare Prandelli knows what I can give to the team and what I can do on the pitch. I would
like to give my contribution in this competition.”
The Nazionale striker had to undergo a surgery after rupturing his knee ligaments in fall. Rossi has given hope to the Italian national coach by stating that he would recover in time, and is hopeful that
he can have a few games under his belt before the Championship starts.
He was quoted as saying, “I should be back on the field of play in April.”
Rossi is familiar with the Spanish style of play, having plied his trade with the Yellow Submarine since the summer of 2007. Commenting on the reigning European Champions chances of further success in the
tournament, the 25-year-old was of the opinion:
“It’s not easy to win a long tournament such as a European Championship or a World Cup. They are tough events even for the best prepared sides.”
