Give Mohammad Amir another chance
Since the advent of Pakistan's international cricket 58 years ago, this cricket fanatic country has produced some world class players. From the era of Sarfaraz Nawaz, Imran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 was all set to gift Mohammad Amir to the world before lighting struck.
Young Amir along with fellow team-mate Mohammad Asif and test skipper Salman Butt were accused of spot-fixing by a British tabloid against England at the Mecca of Cricket at Lords. All three players are under severe pressure from the ICC’s Anti Corruption Unit (ASCU), PCB, Pakistani cricket fans across the world along with a scathing media in England. Despite all the highs and lows being projected about Pakistan cricket, few have criticized the real culprits. The ASCU, which is a body created by the International Cricket Council in 2000 to keep players well informed regarding the Gambling Act of 2005 according to United Kingdom’s legislation, has failed miserably.
Importantly, Amir’s talent has been a revelation for Pakistani cricket, as he finally came as the right replacement for veteran left-arm fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, former West Indian bowler Michael Holding and former Pakistan Coach Jeff Lawson have all shown support for Amir and have urged the authorities to give this boy another chance.
Young Amir has taken 51 wickets in his infant career of 14 test matches and is showing immense promise and cricketing sense against the very best in the world. Amir was born in Changa Bangyaal near Gujjar Khan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 in 1992. Being the youngest of seven siblings, the street-smart cricketer soon followed Wasim Akram as a role-model.
Amir said, “Wasim Akram is my favourite, he’s my idol. When I used to watch him on TV, I would try to see what exactly he was doing with the ball. Then I would go outside and imitate his actions and bowling”.
Due to his outstanding bowling abilities, Amir made his mark in first class cricket at a tender age of 15 years. This young, talented, left-arm fast bowler made it to national team owing to the immense amount of potential.
Senior players believe that the youngster failed to handle the fame and fortune and was wrongly guided into certain activities. Keeping in mind that the left-arm talent comes from a remote village with a financially unstable background, he might have been dragged into the entire matter.
Lawson believes, “Amir should not be held responsible for all this, and if this is the case I am very much disappointed that a talent like Amir has been dragged into this.” He also added the economic condition of the country also plays an important role in this particular scandal, “All these cricketers come from humble backgrounds and it might not be their fault, it might be the conditions that have compelled them to do this.”
Also stating, “One thing that I remember the most about Amir is his winsome smile, and it is still there. I am not defending the match fixing allegations but, we should also consider for the reasons other than this. It might not of a personal gain but he might be thinking about his village to bring electricity.”
However, one has to carefully study the details which led to the event itself. Investigations are continuing and Pakistani cricket fans will be hoping for the best. For the time being, the Pakistani squad is preparing for the upcoming ODI series against England with a warm up match against Somerset today.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 said, “This is only an allegation. There is still no charge or proof on that account. So at this stage there will be no action taken."
