Give equal attention to every format of cricket, Shane Warne asks India – Cricket News Update
India’s dismal performance in the recent Test series against England has sparked a new debate over the Men in Blue preferring Twenty20 cricket to the 5-day format.
Joining the bandwagon, the legendary leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 has unveiled the real picture of Indian cricket.
The four-match clash eventually proved a no-event, as the Englishmen comprehensively clinched the series 4-0, becoming the top side on ICC's Test rankings.
According to Warne, lack of temperament and bench strength are the key issues the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) needs to resolve as soon as possible.
"After this humiliating whitewash, they need to go away and identify their priorities. The BCCI has a responsibility to international cricket to make sure everyone wants to play Test cricket," said Warne.
While pointing out the core problems, the great spinner also suggested some solutions, stating that the Indian cricketers require playing more first-class games in a bid to prepare themselves for the highest level of the traditional cricket.
Furthermore, he urged Indian administration to go beyond preparing spin tracks during home series and asked them to lay seaming wickets in order to aid the Indian batsmen to improve.
In Warne’s point of view, another area of concern that needs to be sorted out is the Indian youngsters’ rising interest in the money-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). He stated that it is sad to see that the players miss International tours but were happy
to participate in IPL despite injury concerns.
"It is a real concern that Indian players are putting the IPL ahead of Test cricket. The IPL and one-day cricket has a role to play but if India lead the charge to make Test cricket the priority for all players, that will help everyone around the world,”
shared the former Australian cricketer who is the second highest wicket-taker so far in Test cricket - 708 scalps in 145 matches.
