All I know is what I saw in the movie "Grosse Pointe Blank".   I'm not sure how much of that is accurate.  

Basically, someone hires someone else to murder someone.  There are professionals who just do this, but often someone just hires a local thug they know.  

Prices vary greatly, but are rather high considering the possible outcomes.  

Both parties are accountable for the murder. So just because you don't pull the trigger, doesn't make you less culpable.  

I don't recommend it as a career. :D

Hit men?  Like people who kill other people for money?  Or do you mean something else?

Can't say as I've researched that a whole lot...please clarify if you mean something other than assassins?

Edit - wow.  Ok, well, it's highly illegal, sociopathic, and not a good career path.

People get pissed off and want a person dead. They find thug and make payment arrangements for them to do it. If done last payment is made. If the thug was cop in disguise, they go to jail.
