  1. If you are on a business trip now you definitely need to see Treasure Beach, It is a nice, serene, calm place. There are no rooms available this weekend as all are booked for a literary festival but you can certainly have a drive down there one of these days and look around. port antonio in Portland is also among the nice off the beaten track places. There are many wonderful beaches and natural scenes there. Also consider visiting Bath in St Thomas.

  2. A book called Jamaica Handbook by Moon was the best resource I have ever found for safe, off the beaten path activities with very explicit instructions on how to find places and things without your everyday signs pointing you where to go. It is updated very well.

My favorite place ever was the mountain in Petersfield outside of Negril. Rode a moped from Negril. There are a few touristy things there like a blue hole where part of a film was made (Blue Lagoon?) and a natural radioactive spa. But in addition to those things, (I didn't do the spa as you have to pay but they let me swim in the blue lagoon for free for a while) made friends with a dread and bought some food to cook and had a great ital lunch. This was about 10 years ago, but that's what the book is great for. This place was the most beatufil place I had ever seen in my life.

  3. Depends..are u visiting Kingston or the tourist areas?

  5. The south coast is beauiful yet under apprecited ..theres alligator pond if you love seafood, The fishermen will catch it and prepare how you like it right on the beach. There is lover's leap, the black river has all kids of wildlife manatees etc., Mandiville has lots of historic building from when they were colonized. There is the cockpit country in trelawny the list goes on., and the south coast is peaceful its mostly farmers and so on and they don't condone crime of any sort. In fact they are considered the most friendly Jamaicans and will even invite you in their home for a meal! hAVE FUN
