Ok, I think I've pretty much wore out the Itsy Bitsy Spider song. We also sing Rock a Bye Baby, The Alphabet song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Mary had a Little Lamb... I know there are other baby friendly songs out there, but my mind is always blank after the songs I've already listed... Help!

  1. You got some terrific answers but I will just also add, make up your own! We sing lots of made up songs here at diaper time, eating time, etc.

Such as (to the tune of Sally the camel has _ humps)

Nolan the baby has four teeth, Nolan the baby has four teeth, Nolan the baby has four teeth so bite Nolan bite. Chomp chomp chomp. He giggles and eats right up.

Or I know your name is Nolan and that's a handsome name, and even when you're older you'll have the very same name. Nolan, nolan, That is what we'll say. Nolan, Nolan every single day. Your name is quite important your name belongs to you and since your name's important then YOU'RE important too.

He loves songs with his own name in them.

  6. I sing Emma mostly church songs.  Amazing Grace, Jesus Loves Me, etc.  One of my favorite songs is "Watch Little Ears What You Hear."  I almost cry when I sing it.  It goes

Be careful little ears what you hear,

Oh be careful little ears what you hear,

For the Father up above is looking down with love,

So be careful little ears what you hear.

You replace "little ears what you hear" with:

    little eyes what you see

    little hands what you touch

    little minds what you think

    little lips what you say

    little feet where you go

    little heart whom you trust

And if that Thunderbirds too slow,

Mommas gonna buy You a GTO

And if that GTO breaks down,

Mommas gonna buy you a Lincon Town.

And if thta Lincon Town rolls over,

Mommas gonna buy you a new Land Rover.

And if that new Land Rover gets Stuck,

Mommas gonna buy You a Chevy Truck.

And if that Chevt truck dont run,

You'll take the bus that's it have fun!!

and some of these songs you can act it out with their little baby bodies. have fun!

  9. I sing songs from musicals like "Sound of Music" and "Annie"...every night we sing "Tomorrow" and she loves it.  Also, making up your own silly songs is something every kid loves...just pick a familiar tune and make up words as you go!  We have a "bathtime" song and a "good morning" song that always gets a smile!

  10. How about

My daughter loves, loves, loves those two songs!

  12. I resorted to 12 Days of Christmas this weekend because my songbook  was getting a bit tired as well.  Hope we get some good ideas.

My husband started singing "I've been working on the railroad..."  He likes that one.

Yes, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, my son gets the biggest smile when I sing this to him.  It's our no-fail fuss-stopper!

Old McDonald Had a Farm, who doesn't love farm animal noises?

  13. The two favorites here are the alphabet song and Jesus loves me. I cracked up when I saw the other post about singing Christmas songs. Just last week I was singing Frosty the Snowman. But, Christmas songs are my favorites. You could sing anything, because Johnny doesn't really know what you are singing. Landon and I dance around the living room to Aerosmith. It's funny.

  14. My little guy LOVES:

(sung to "where is thumbkin" tune: http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/w010.htm...

Where is Logan (his name, obviously)

    Where is Logan

    There he is,

    There he is.

We're/I'm so glad to see you,

We're/I'm so glad to see you

    Peek a boo!

    Peek a boo!

Then I do verses for Where is Mommy, Where is Daddy (if he's around), Where is Lucky (our dog), etc.

We also sing Little Bunny Foo-foo http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/l007.htm...

Row, row, row your boat (but we learned additional verses in our Baby Sign class, below:)

Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.

Drive, drive, drive your car down the busy street.

Isn't it surprising all the kangaroos you meet?

Fly, fly, fly your plane quickly through the air.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, birds are everywhere.

Ride, ride, ride your bike through the countryside.

Merrily, merrily, Mommy and me out to take a ride.

Row, row row your boat-- drive, drive, drive your car-- fly, fly, fly your plane-- ride, ride ride your bike-- Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, now the trip is done!

    5 little ducks: http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/f005.htm...

    You are my sunshine

That's all I can think of, for now. :)

Edit:  I can't believe I forgot-- Old MacDonald!  And someone posted The ants go marching... My son loves that one, too.

  15. I take songs from the 40s and also some that are slightly more operatic to sing to my 9-month-old. He absolutely loves it. He especially likes Cab Calloway, The Andrews Sisters and Mario Lanza. Some of his favorites are I Can't Give You Anything But Love Baby, Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby, Minnie the Moocher, Ciribiribi and Funiculi Funicula (helps if you know a little Italian). I'll also just turn on the radio and sing whatever's on there. babies don't care what you sing, just that you do.

  16. Hickory Dickory Dock

    Are You Sleeping?

I like to eat Apples and Bananas

    5 Little monkeys

    Old McDonald

If you run out of ideas you could always buy a Raffi CD my kids love him.

  17. I've started watching barny at noon daily to figure out more songs!

    -pat a cake

-i love you, you love me

-oh mr sun sun mr golden sun...

-when you wish upon a star

-12 buckle my shoe, 3 4 shut the door

-if you're happy and you know it

    -hickory dickory dock

    -london bridge

    -old mc donald

  18. We do a lot of singing in our house. We sing most of the ones you mentioned as well as:

    You are my Sunshine

    That's Amore

    Bah-Bah Blacksheep

    This Old Man

    The Farmer in the Dell

I usually sing whatever is in my head. More often then not, it is not a baby song per say. My son loves "Come Sail Away" by the Styx, "Crazy" by Narls Barkley, and anything by the Bare Naked Ladies.

There are also 20+ versus to the itsy bitsy spider. I'll find the link and post it. When all else fails I will just make up words to a song and make it about my son.
