  1. Tungsten (Wolframium), the highest melting element, forms a compound with Helium, the lowest melting element.

WHe2 is formed when a tungsten filament is allowed to cool in a He atmosphere, under pressure. It is a stable black powder. This reaction was noticed in the 1880s.

Mercury (Hydrargyrum) and Bromine are the only 2 elements that are liquid at room temperature.

The element Rhenium (75) is so rare that it has no specific ore. Its maximum concentration in any mineral is 1ppm (part per million). All separated Rhenium comes as a byproduct of Copper production. Only the huge amount of copper refined in the world makes it available commercially.

If you shine an ultraviolet light on a white wall or cardboard and place an open beaker of Mercury between them (in a fume hood, please!), you will see eerie shadows projected onto the white surface. It is the Mercury evaporating. You can see it because Mercury vapor absorbs UV light.

Unlike the various isotopes of other elements, those of Helium (3He and 4He) have such different properties that they will not mix in liquid form (at ~271-272K).
