Give me you deffinition of what a goth is.?

"Nonconformists" who tend to go against "the norm." Many decide to wear dark, deep colors, and like to dye their hair.

I say nonconformist in quotes because many "Goth" people do conform to a certain dress and lifestyle, it just isn't what the majority of people follow.

A goth is an avid fan of goth rock.  That's the large and the small of it.  Examples of goth rock include The Sisters of Mercy (though they deny it), Bauhaus, and Cruxshadows.  They do not include bands like H.I.M (which is love metal) or My Chemical Romance (which seems to be simply rock).  Though there are many common interests among the members of the goth community (such as style of dress, books, movies, and art), it really is all about the music.  You can certainly dress in black, like what people seem to always say is "like a goth" and have nothing to do with the goth community; and you can dress like a "prep" (or whatever other cliche term you want to use) and be a goth -- if you are an avid fan of the music.  

The goth subculture has suffered many stereotypes over its time of conception (the late 70s -- early 80s), but it seems the invent of the internet has made these stereotypes more widespread.  The music is the lifeblood of the goth subculture and the defining vein which we all have in common.

Someone who's part of the music subculture that originally came about in the late '70s and early '80s from punk and post-punk with bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Bauhaus.  That's pretty much it.  You like (real) goth music and participate in the subculture to one extent or another, then you're probably a goth.  It's not a state of mind, it's not a religion, it's not metal and not emo, or any of that that people seem to think it is.

Tend to like heavy metal music...

-white faces

-with lots of black eye make-up!

-maybe black lipstick!

-some like to draw black tribal patterns on their faces!
