Question:

Give me your arguments on cloning a human

I don't want to know whether you think it is ethical or against God's will. What I want to know is your theory if a human is cloned, once that clone reaches adulthood, would they not only look identical to the original but would they have the same memories as the original or perhaps a similar personality.

Also consider that identical twins are a type of clone and identical twins often have similar ways of speaking, dressing and similar personalities.

  1. You probably know this, but no one is proposing to clone a human.  There are proposals for therapeutic cloning, which would use individual cells                        from the shapeless cell bundles that form just after fertilisation.

The parent and the clone would probably be a bit less similar than identical twins.  They would have had different histories in the womb, and would have grown up a generation apart, in different environments and cultures.

  2. Sure the would be similarities.  They would be identical genetically.   But, do not discount environment.  It has influences on you.  But, yeah they would probably be very, very, very similar.

They would not share memories.  Memories are stored experiences from life.  They are not passed on from generation to generation.  The clone would think much the same way about various stimuli, but there would be differences in many aspects of it's life.

Why should they not clone?  Nature likes diversity.  It never stops trying to improve on an organism through chance.  Cloning is going in the opposite direction.  Who is to say that the person being cloned is perfect or better suited?  Everyone doesn't have to be 6'2" tall with wavy blonde hair.  Look at dogs and cats.  Some purebreds are the most sickly animals on the planets.  This also has to do with inbreeding.  Mutts are generally in better shape and more able to deal with the diversity nature throws at them.  Anytime you start monkeying around with diversity you can wind up with a organism that cannot adapt to changes.  It's best to let chance work it's magic.  It's worked pretty well on this planet so far.  Every time someone tries to play God they mess it up.
