Hello to my fellow South Africans - how proud and confident are you feeling lately? I fear for my families well being and safety, I fear my company is collapsing with Eskom/strikes and farmers struggles to survive, I fear for my children's education and medical facilities.

How do you feel?

I have a trade - I love my fellow South African friends and family BUT

is it time to say Goodbye?

  1. I know what you mean. We moved to New Zealand 9 years ago and really love living here. By the sound of things the situation in SA is worst now that when we left.

It is not easy to emigrate and the first year is really hard but from then it is really great. We certainly have no intention to ever move back to SA.

It is great living in a clean, safe first world country.

Each one has to decide when and if it is time to leave.

  3. Yeah, Things are getting tough here, If things don't get better soon , then yip , maybe its time to say bye , bye

  4. I love South Africa but left over 3 years ago.Nobody knows that when they go to bed at night if they would still wake up in the morning and that`s a terrible fear to live with everyday.I read the Beeld online everyday and it`s just murder and robbery......Very sad....

  5. I've only heard of conflict and wars raging somewhere in there or its neighboring countries. I live in Asia and even when we are considered a third-world country by the global community I say we still are lucky than those in Africa. At least we can sleep at night unafraid to be ransacked or killed on our beds. Recently I watched a news on cnn about those  Zimbabwe people who fled their country and who got to south africa and was killed because some people viewed them as a threat or stealing jobs from the south Africans. I hope things go better in your beloved country.

  6. We left 10 years ago and it was the best choice we ever made. My kids have a much better future not only with education but with medical technology and no crime. They play in the street until it's dark, they ride their bikes with the neighbors . We don't lock our front door. My kids are growing up free.

If you are thinking of wanting to know when to leave then it is time to leave. It is not easy. The first 2 or so years are very hard but looking back I am so glad we did it.

  7. Home is where you make it and there are much nicer countries out there so if you are able to go where the grass is the greenest where ever in the world that may be.
