  1. When children are actively involved in an activity they like they will learn more than when they are following another persons directions. They are using more of their thinking skills as they design the course of the activity. When activities are intrinsically  interesting the child will stay with it longer, thus developing their attention span. the play is pleasing to them and they are not doing it to please someone else. They are developing self motivation and curiosity. all of these are important characteristics of good learners.

  2. Children will learn more simple because they have chosen the activity, they will only choose something that they like and find interesting.

Being involved in planning and having the opportunity to choose activities raises their self-esteem and they will probably concentrate for longer and have pride in their work.
