  1. neutralization

    acid+base= salt+water

  2. Neutralization

    HX + YOH >> YX + H2O

    we get salt + water

  3. neutralisation (neutralization if you're american)

    eg

    HNO3 + NaOH -------> H2O + NaNO3

    it is called neutralisation because the pH of the base and the acid combine to give a more neutral pH (neutral pH which is generally taken as pH of deionised water is pH 7)

  4. It's called a neutralization reaction. The general reaction is:

    HA + B-  ->  A- + HB

    where HA is an acid and B- is the base. The acid donates an H+ to the base who becomes HB (callled the conjugated acid to the base). The A- is called the conjugated base to the acid.

  5. You have a choice.  Some call it an acid-base reaction.  If the acid and base combined neutralize each other it is called a neutralization reaction.  Your third choice is a double replacement reaction.  The formula for this is AB + CD = BC + AD.  An example would be the combination of sodium hydroxide (base) and hydrochloric acid (acid).  Acids and bases always combine to form water and a salt.  Lets use the above example: Na = A, OH = B, H = C, Cl = D.  Now put into formula: NaOH + HCl = HOH (H2O) + NaCl.

  6. Thats simple Acid+base -> Salt+water

    This is known as Neutralisation Reaction
