Using petroleum fuels and excessive livestock production are 2 good examples.

Petroleum fuels are responsible for much of the CO2 emissions as well as air pollutants.  Petroleum-based fertilizers also cause cancer in humans.

Manure secreted from excessive livestock production, especially from hogs, increases phosphate and bacteria levels in topsoil and groundwater.  Phosphates are mostly responsible for the massive algae blooms in our lakes and the bacteria from animal manure is responsible for most of the bacterial outbreaks we are experiencing today (eg:  salmonella - tomatoes, jalapenos).

The situation can be remedied by using methane made in high-speed composters out of livestock manure to power our gasoline engines.  We essentially are solving 2 of our worst pollution problems with one simple remedy, not to mention we have the satisfaction of telling Big Oil what they can do with their expensive gasoline.
