  1. No, why would you give anyone your ssn number?

You open yourself up for identity theft.

  2. No one but your employer and the IRS should be granted access to you social security number.

If you are unsure that you can trust this person it might not be a bad idea to open an account that monitors your credit reports. I use mycreditkeeper.com because you can't be too safe these days.

  3. WHY did you give your SSN to a co-worker.  She has no right whatsoever to use it, even if you're present.  Did she apply for a credit card using your SSN?  If so, she is guilty of identity theft, but you're probably going to be the one that suffers when your credit is messed up.

Notify the credit bureaus that someone has used your SSN without permission and put a watch on your credit record.  Tell them to flag your account that the SSN may be stolen so that credit card issuers won't issue a card without checking further.
