  1. Yup. There will always be a need for pilots. Airlines are practically begging for more, with the current pilot shortage.


  2. Yes. attrition through retirements will continue to create need for pilots. There will continue to be a need for business travel so demand charter aviation will flourish if the air carriers continue to drop routes or service to smaller markets. There is more opportunity than just "airline" in commercial aviation.

  3. Depends. Pick the wrong airline and you start over.

In the general condition the global economy is in for the foreseeable future, no career is particularly secure.  If you are talented and determined, you can succeed in what you want to do.  Do what you want to do; any choice may be a good one or a bad one, and nobody can predict with any certainty.

  5. It's said that the airline industry normally drops and picks up every 10 years. Aviation is one of the newest and most convenient forms of travel, and as long as people will continue needing to fly, there will be companies looking for people to fly them. You wanna be a pilot, be a pilot!
