Given the weekend that's in it what's the best gig you've ever been to in Ireland?

Until recently for me it's been the Manics at Smithfield years ago, supported by JJ72.

However last weekend I went to the National Concert Hall to see Duke Special with the RTE National Orchestra and was absolutely blown away! I hardly even noticed it was a sit down affair (which was my only complaint). Peter Wilson's vocals were spectacular, the music perfect and what a show! Can't wait for the new album.

My top three would be:

1. Duke Special (NCH, Dublin 2008)

2. Manics (Smithfield)

3. Eels & Divine Comedy (Highlights for me at a Oxygen/Witness, sorry can't remember which year it was)

We'd say it was Daniel O' Donnell in the NEC in Killarney in 2003. It was the time he eschewed his acoustic roots and went all electric.

Some people in the crowd called him a Judas but most of the grannies were wetting themselves with excitement.

1. Any of the Feiles (Showing my age, but sure I was only young and it was only up the road and my folks let mad hairy bikers camp in our field and they were having so much craic with our home-made cider that they gave us their tickets and we got in for free) - but especially performances by Meatloaf, The Stunning and Rage against the Machine, and the Manics and the Prodigy at the one-day event in 97.

3. Nick Cave at the Gaiety, 1999

I haven't been to a good gig in ages, the most recent good ones were all outside Ireland. I really need to get out more. But they won't unlock the door :-(

The Killers last August was absolutely amazing.

Also saw Meatloaf and Status Quo in the summer of 2005, which was a fantastic night =]

The best one for me was Muse last month at Morley Park - it was great despite the bad weather!!
