There is talk of changing the way we give to poorer countries. Much of the concern being that little cash aid gets to where it should. I can`t help think of the term give some one a fish and he abaits hunger give them a net and they can fend for themselves. (I know this isn`t the correct term for all those phrase junkies) could we not be considering investment rather than aid or does it suit the so called developed world to keep these poorer countries exactly were they are. dependant on those that hold the purse strings?

  1. yes thats very good observation, I believe education is the best way to improve the world. But I think it's time for a new approach to education in the western world as well.

  2. That's why development agencies and non-governmental organizations have switched from aid (outside of disaster situations) to development efforts. That's why volunteer organizations want highly skilled people who can go to the developing world and train others to attain employment, manage their own water and sanitation issues, train teachers, etc., rather than unskilled people who "just want to help!" The shift from aid to development is already there.
