Giving babies cookies?

my sister in law has a baby the same age as mine( 5 month old) her baby has not begun to yet eat food, (she doesnt quite know what to do with it yet) however, my sister in law gives her oreo cookies! and shes lactose intolerant! i told her she was nuts, that if the baby isnt ready for strained fruits and veggies she shouldnt b eating cookies!.... can anyone back me up?! please!

If your sister in law doesn't have the common sense to withold Oreo's from a 5 month old .. I don't think we're going to be much help =]

babies should never have cookies! too much sugar for their little bodies :(

wt? how is this baby able to eat/chew a cookie. my daughter is only 4 months but she is just starting out on very soft veggies, i don't understand how a 5 month old can eat a cookie without choking. this is only my advice...... DO NOT FEED BABIES COOKIES. even if she can manage to swallow it without choking to death, ( and i sincerely hope that does NOT happen) there is no nutritional content whatsoever.

its important to feed a child fruits and vegetables first perhaps a little grains at 6 months. to give a 5 month old an oreo cookie is absolutely unthinkable to me, i don't know what to say, it's crazy!!!

I'll back u up. but no one likes people to tell them what to feed their children. so instead of telling her shes nuts just tell her why not try rits cookies or graham crakers instead of oreos u know just give little suggestions instead of saying "no dont give her that" that way theres less problems.

Thats crazy ... oreo cookies aren't even healthy for toddlers/kids nevermind babies ... the baby could choke, and omg all that sugar?? Definately not good for a baby!!!

that's insane! she is afraid to give her baby solids that are good for her... but not afraid to give her a sh*t load of sugar...

somebody needs to ger her some information RIGHT AWAY....
