ok my daughter is going to need surgery within a few days of birth and i was thinking that if she needs a transfusion i would be the best donor for her, i am O+ and dad is B+, so i was wondering if anyone knows if i would be allowed to give blood while pregnant... sure my husband definitely could but she will DEFINITELY be able to take my blood but only can take his if she is B+

  1. it is not a good idea to donate blood during pregnancy

Women always suffer from anemia while pregnant, so it is better to check for another donor for your DD, hopefully her dad

  2. im sorry but they will not allow you to give blood while preg. what is her blood type, if she is O+ she can only  take O+ blood but if shes any other she can take her blood type and O+. im sure she will be fine.im lucky im A+ like my mum and my dad is O+ so i can take blood from either of them.

  3. Normally they don't allow you to give blood while pg. Your body is producing extra blood right now but that little one is taking everything that is extra. It would be best to wait at least 6 weeks after giving birth before donating blood. You lose a lot during delivery and it take a good 6 weeks to get your blood level back to where it was before the pg.

Talk to them about donating platelets during this time or if there is anything else you can do to help her.

  4. No, you cant donate while pregnant, not a good idea. ask your doc.

  5. i don't think your allowed to give blood while pregnant
