I'm doing a project for school about children with "ADD/ADHD" and the truth about ritalin. If you have any personal thoughts/feelings/experiences in this area I would appreciate your input both good and bad.

  1. most kids are put on it when they start school  my  little girl is very hiper so i know they will want me to put her on it and i will refuse i think it is just a way to knock them out so they dont have to deal my niece takes it and she cant function right she is in a daze all the time

  2. My almost 8 year old son has taken Ritalin in the past. I thought that it didn't help at all with him, but I have heard some other parents say that it was a God send for them.

  3. medication is totally overperscribed in our culture. add is totally overdiagnosed. look into how our culture actually reinforces add type behaviors  - fast food, immediate gratification, getting as much done as possible in the least amount of time. also artificial preservatives and colors in foods play a role. if such a thing as "add" exisits, i see it as a personality type, not a disorder until all the biological aspects have been addressed.

oh and ritalin will help anyone focus better.
