How would a mother give up her parental rights? The child is 9. Would she still have to pay support

  5. Yes, any child under the age of 18 will still need support by both parental units. Either by support or living with one of the parents. I went to court with my mom and dad there is a way to transfer and stuff...what I mean by that is that you can give up all legal and sole custody to the other parent but you will always have to be the child's parent as stated on the birth certificate. I don't understand why you would want to do that but it is your decision i have helped about all I can on this subject. Good Luck.
