Giving up parental rights??

Can one parent give up their parental rights with out the other parents consent?

  1. They can give up their own, but then the child will go to the other parent


  2. Yes, but you'd have to go to court and inform the other parent, who would then become the sole caregiver of the child.

  5. Both parents are supposed to sign relinquishment documents in order for a child to be available for adoption.  But, one parent can certainly give up his or her rights and the other parent keep the child.

  6. I think a man would have to have the mom's consent, otherwise there would be a lot more men signing over their rights instead of paying child support.  

  7. yep but financially its probably up to the court if the other parent doesnt accept full responsibility.
