  1. Glaciers erode the land by essentially scraping the land as the glacier slowly moves along.  Large rocks and boulders can be pushed along with the glacier where the glacier is in contact with the ground, and that can gouge out the land even more.  Meltwater from the glacier can also erode the land downstream from the glacier.

Continental glaciers can be found in many places, such as the U.S. (Alaska has a lot of them), and where very high mountains exist, like in Nepal (Asia).

If a berg is 70 feet tall and 10% of it is above water, what is 10% of 70?  Just multiply by the decimal equivalent of 10% , which is 0.10, and what do you get?  That figure is the amount above water, thus subtract to get the amount below water.

Or do you mean 70 feet is above water?  In that case, since 10 times 10% is 100%, then 70 x 10 is the total height of the berg, which would be 700 feet, then subtract the 70 to get 630.

  2. 1.glaciars erode in different ways:

fluvio-glacially they erode by the water they issue from melting this creates larger river channels. also they produce depositional features such as kame terraces.

they can erode by plucking which is where the bottom of the glacier freezes to a lump of rock then rips it off as it travels past

then theres abrasion where the bed load of the glacier rubs against the bottom of the valley floor and sides and grinds away like sandpaper.

2)?? seems an odd question-does it mean location or position/aspect etc? the northern latitudes such as canada and siberia and then at the poles?

3)63ft is below the water but 10% is not an exact number it can vary iceberg to iceberg. you can use the chaos theory equation to work it out if your that desperate!! haha

    hope all that helps

  3. 2. alaska/russia

there is the hubbard glacier in alaska (thats one for example)

  4. 1. When glaciers move, they melt, creating water that washes away land.  Glaciers are what made the northern eastern part of the US flat, such as northern Ohio.

    2. Greenland and up in the mountains have glaciers.  Glacier Park is in Montana, I believe.

    3. 90% or 630ft
