Gladsome looking for first win in Pochin Construction Ltd Maiden Stakes
Gladsome has got a very good chance of brining up her first victory in the Pochin Construction Ltd Maiden Stakes at Haydock in England on Friday, July 6, 2012. A cash prize of £2,264 will be awarded to the class-5 winner.
The going will be soft in the 1 mile race, which is scheduled to start at 20:45 GMT and there will be 10 runners battling out for glory. All of them are inexperienced, which will make things quite interesting in the end.
However, Gladsome has participated in a few more races compared to her rivals, which will give her an edge. This is why the bookies have given her a general starting price of 11 to 4 and the punters will also be eager to risk some bets on her.
The four-year-old filly made her debut in May 2012 and she did a decent job back then. Although she was unable to make a big impression back then, yet her speed was quite impressive and she secured the fourth place.
The Jason Ward’s trainee improved her performance in the next race, as she finished third in it. She was priced 12 to 1 back then and looked quite strong at the start of the event. However, she was unable to hold her rivals back for long and dropped down
a couple of places.
After the first couple of races, Gladsome grew in confidence and delivered another impressive performance in her career. This time she managed to secure the runner up spot, which was encouraging for her team. However, she failed to trouble the winner, losing
by six lengths.
In her most recent race, Resplendent Glory’s daughter out of Christening finished third for the second time in her career. She was not rated as favourite back then as well, but still managed to challenge the front runners until the end. Although her overall
record is good, yet her team would want her to break the shackles and win today’s event.
Gladsome will be partnered by Michael Stainton, who lacks consistency at this level. However, he has the skills to battle at the front and will be aiming for an improved performance at Haydock.
