second day of play of the four-day County Championship Division Two match, Leicestershire were bowled-out for 142.
Glamorgan’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jim-Allenby-c1695 made the difference with his unbeaten knock of 138, which left the critics with words of praise for him. It was this innings which put his side in the driving seat with the opposition
lingering far behind. The batsman exhibited supreme resolve to carry his bat until the end of the innings and the way he batted, it seemed like he was prepared to stay in the middle till eternity.
Later, Michael Hogan and John Glover proved their metal in the bowling department by taking four wickets apiece.
The day began with Glamorgan resuming their first innings from an overnight score of 256 for the loss of five wickets. Allenby (39) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-Wallace-c1913 (12) came out to continue their partnership but could take
score to only 278 before the latter was dismissed by Ollie Freckingham, after scoring 16 runs off 47 deliveries.
Allenby was then joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Wagg-c1506 and the two crafted a spectacular partnership, pulverising the bowlers without a hint of remorse. This was an excellent partnership by Glamorgan with the two batsmen exhibited
supreme confidence against their rivals.
The duo led the side towards 395 runs to outplay the bowlers completely, before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jigar-Naik-c1694 stepped in to take the much awaited wicket of Wagg, who was caught after bolstering a knock of 58 runs.
JC Glover (8) and MG Hogan (12) then played their part to help their side pile a massive score on the board.
Finally, on getting their turn to bat, Leicestershire, suffered the loss of their first wicket with 16 runs on the board, followed by the fall of their second wicket on 18 runs.
Wicketkeeper/batsman, Ned Eckersley, was then the third man to find his way off the field, leaving his side struggling on 28 runs.
With most batsmen losing their wickets without putting up much of a fight, the 29-run knock by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joshua-Cobb-c1739 was the best. However, this did not avert a disappointing end to their innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 will look to wrap up the game tomorrow by bowling out their opposition in the second innings.
