Glamorgan County Cricket Club on Tuesday signed a three-year contract with the Western Australian pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Hogan-c1956.
Glamorgan's head of elite performance, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Mott-c1928 was excited at having signed Hogan for the next three seasons and he hopes it will further strengthen the county’s bowling attack.
"We are delighted to have secured Michael's services for at least the next three seasons,” said Mott while speaking to media reporters after finalising the deal with the Western Australian bowler.
"I think he'll be a great asset to our attack...He is a talented cricketer and will further strengthen our bowling attack. It is a fantastic time to sign him as he is one of the form bowlers in Australian cricket," he added further.
Mott revealed that Hogan was recommended by the skipper of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-North-c1982, who will also be joining the pacer at Sophia Gardens for the second half of the season.
Hogan was a latecomer to first-class cricket, as he made his debut for Western Australia in 2009 at the age of 28. However, the Glamorgan coach feels that the right-arm medium pacer still has a good five or six years of county cricket in him, and hopes his
arrival at Sophia Gardens will be a great boost for the club.
To date, the Western Australian pace-bowler has played 27 first class matches, claiming 100 wickets at an impressive average of 28.46. His One-Day stats however, are not that impressive, as the 30-year-old medium pacer has claimed only 26 wickets in 21 List
A matches.
"He's predominantly going to be a four day bowler and you can never have too many fast bowlers," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mott-c77775.
The 30-year-old right-arm medium pacer holds a British passport and he will not be classified as an overseas player at Glamorgan. The pacer will join the Welsh county in July and will miss the start of the 2012 county season, as his wife is expected to give
birth to their first child in May.
"I am thrilled to be joining Glamorgan. I have always been keen to play cricket in the UK and am pleased to have joined such an ambitious and passionate county," said Hogan.
