Glamorgan v Essex: County Championship Division Two Match Recap

The visitors had to chase down 33 runs for victory in less than two sessions of play on the final day, which was almost impossible for them. The team managed to defend the day, ending the match in a draw.

Rees was dismissed after scoring 76 runs off 156 balls with the help of seven boundaries. He batted extremely well, especially when the new ball was doing some tricks early on in the innings.
Petersen did not miss out on his opportunity to make a big one, ending up with 133 runs from 228 deliveries. The Proteas batsman struck 18 boundaries in his terrific outing.
There were not many significant performances from the middle-order of the Glamorgan team, as all batsmen were dismissed for 399 runs.
Essex’s Tom Craddock gave some momentum to his side with a four-wicket haul in the innings.
The visitors were under pressure to perform in their first and did a decent job, collecting 363 runs. Despite losing the openers early, Essex managed to gain momentum with a fabulous batting performance from England’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/OA-Shah-c2134.
The veteran batsman top scored the innings with a spectacular century. He got out after contributing 118 runs to the total with the help of 14 fours and one massive six.
There were a couple of other solid performances by middle-order player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jaik-Mickleburgh-c1627 and Adam Wheater. The former got out after scoring 60 runs whereas the latter remained unbeaten on 92 until he ran out of partners at the other end.

The hosts’ batsmen did not find any problems in their second outing wit the bat as well, as the innings was declared at 296/7. Petersen was once again amongst the runs, collecting 77 runs this time around.
