At stumps on the second day of the four-day game between Glamorgan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 lead by 31 runs with five wickets remaining in their first innings, at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
The day began with Leicestershire, resuming their first innings from a tally of 199 for the loss of six wickets with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PL-Mommsen-c2194 on an overnight score of 14 and WA White on ten.
The two batsmen were the last line of defence for their team and knew they needed to bat for as long as possible in order to post a comfortable score on the board by the end of their innings.
The duo looked well determined as they clobbered the bowlers in a bid to score fast enough to give the fielding side some early hiccups.
However, with a tally of 241, the intimidating partnership met its ultimate demise on the wicket of White, who found his way back to the pavilion after scoring an innings of 26 runs.
On the penultimate delivery of the next over, Mommsen also met is doom as he perished after scoring a knock of 35 runs before having his stumps obliterated on a delivery bowled by Allenby.
Later, the remaining batsmen faltered allowing Leicestershire to post a tally of 271 runs.
From Glamorgan, J Allenby was the deadliest with the ball in his hand as he nabbed four wickets, while DA Cosker stayed behind him with three wickets to his name.
After successfully restricted their opponents on a meagre tally, Glamorgan started their stint with the bat in the match with openers GP Rees and WD Bragg, who gave their side a stand of 75 runs, leaving the fielding side in disgust.
Nonetheless, WA White became the first man to strike for his team as he dismissed WD Bragg on a tally of 22, consequently breaking the lethal opening stand.
However, ,the innings was far from over as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-North-c1982 left the fielding side rattled by bolstering a fantastic knock of 116 runs to help his side amass a total of 302 runs.
