At stumps, on the penultimate day of the four-day match between Glamorgan and Leicestershire, the latter trail by 203 runs with nine wickets remaining in their second innings at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
The day began with Glamorgan resuming their first innings from a score of 302 runs for the loss of five wickets with J Allenby on 10 and DA Cosker on two.
Cosker became the first wicket of the day as he fell after scoring just five runs, at a time when his team was standing on a total of 309 runs.
With this wicket, Leicestershire seemed heading for the kill, but little did they know that they were in for a surprise as in a matter of few overs they realized that they were now facing a stiff resistance from the pair of Allenby and MA Wallace.
The two batsmen, defying all odds, looked determined to put their side in a dominating position against their rivals as they belted some of the finest shots in modern-day cricket, taking the sting out of the bowling attack.
This was the time, the fielding side needed to break the partnership to prevent the game from slipping away; however, they failed – consequently letting the batsmen get the better of them.
The duo amassed a massive partnership by steering their team towards a gigantic total of 448 runs before WA White made the biggest breakthrough of the day by trapping Allenby in front of stumps after the batsman had hammered a resilient innings of 61 runs.
Nonetheless, Wallace kept going strong and was provided a potent support by JAR http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 as the duo raced to a total of 542 before Harris fell after scoring an innings of 48 runs.
Meanwhile, Wallace jabbed a stupendous innings of 118 runs to play a key role in helping his team bolster an amazing total of 558 runs.
Leicestershire then lost the services of GP http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 (10) with only 11 runs on the board as they ended the day by piling 84 runs with MA Thornely on 36 and EJH Eckersley on 37.
