Glamorgan v Leicestershire - County Championship Division Two - Day 4 - Live Score and Update
Leicestershire 271 & 316/2d (117.0 ov) v Glamorgan 558/9d - Match drawn
The four-day match between Glamorgan and Leicestershire ended in a draw after Leicestershire refused to budge on the final day and kept on batting for eternity at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
The day began with Leicestershire resuming their second innings from a total of 84 runs for the loss of one wicket with MA Thornely on 36 and EJH Eckersley on 37.
Considering the whole day of play ahead, Glamorgan needed to bowl-out the opposition in order to grab an easy win as they had already amassed a mammoth first innings total of 558 runs.
However, this was just not their day as the bowlers seemed not just unimpressive but also lacking in the skill needed to restrict any batting line-up.
Both batsmen batted with zeal and confidence, manoeuvring the pace of the game as they aimed to stay on the wicket till stumps in order to prevent the opposite side from bolstering a win.
It was finally J Allenby, who struck for his team as he nabbed the wicket of MA Thornely, who was caught by Rees after hammering a stupendously exciting innings of 131 runs off 297 deliveries.
Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RR-Sarwan-c2371, then joined the party and forged another daunting partnership alongside Eckersley to give the bowlers a tough time.
The two then stood defiant till the end of the day as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807 amassed 316 runs with Eckersley unbeaten on a sensational knock of 137 and his skipper on 25 runs off 73 deliveries.
The height of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784’s desperation was evident due to the fact that they used ten bowlers just to bowl-out Leicestershire, but failed miserably as they could nab only one wicket after bowling for the whole day.
On the other hand, Leicestershire executed their plans accordingly and kept their nerve in order to stay on the wicket, to leave Glamorgan bowlers tired and out of the will to carry on bowling under the sun.
Many would have wanted to see the match end with a result, however, fans witnessed a solid batting performance from the team which was adamant on avoiding defeat.
