Lineen added, “We’re delighted to have given so many players to the Scotland squad, but it’s also good to have a bit more depth in our squad and I’m looking forward to seeing Rob challenge the likes of Tom Ryder, Rob Harley, James Eddie and Nick Campbell
for a place in the second row.”
The New Zealand professional Rugby Union player, Verbakel, has expressed his excitement on signing his new deal with the Warriors. He added that the contract has allowed him an opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing and competing in the Northern Hemisphere.
He said, “It’s a fantastic opportunity for me to be coming to a side that plays in two of the best club competitions in the northern hemisphere, the RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup.”
Verbakel will join the Warriors at the end of the ITM Cup, New Zealand Rugby Union’s domestic Rugby Competition. He added that he is aware of the fact that he will join the Warriors after the start of the season. However, he has expressed his desire to carry
on his ITM cup form to the Warriors.
The 24-year-old Verbakel made his professional rugby union senior club debut for the New Zealand’s provincial side, Canterbury, in 2010. At the end of the season, he joined the Otago Highlanders.
