Glasgow Warriors retain the services of their talented youngster Rob Harley – Rugby News
Scottish professional Rugby Union outfit, Glasgow Warriors, has retained the services of their talented utility forwards player, Rob Harley. Officials at the club have confirmed the signing
of a new two-year deal with the Harley in a statement released on their website on Wednesday, October 26.
Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby are both Scottish Professional Rugby Union team and they participate in the RaboDirect Pro 12 and European competitions.
The new deal will allow Harley to remain with the Glasgow Warriors until the end of the 2013/14 season. This is Warriors second important signing following inking a new deal with Ruaridh Jackson
on Tuesday, October 25.
Glasgow Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, has expressed his delight on retaining the services of the versatile forwards players, Harley. Harley has performed at both second row (lock) and back
row forwards (flanker) position. He has termed Harley as one of his “most prized assets”. He added, “It’s a real boost to have got him tied up on an extended contract.”
Lineen termed Harley as a joy for the coaches. He further added, “Rob is a real warrior, in all senses of the term. He's a real tough competitor with a fantastic work rate who always wants
to learn.”
The 21-year-old Harley has expressed his excitement on signing his new deal with the club. He expressed satisfaction with his decision to remain at the Warriors and termed club as the right
place for his further development. He added, "Committing to Glasgow Warriors was a straightforward call to make.”
Harley has thanked and praised the role of the management, coaches and senior players at the club, which have helped him to grow as a player. He further added, “I look forward to sharing a
lot more good times with them and the rest of the squad in the coming months and years.”
Harley has been knocking on the doors for selection in Scotland’s national Rugby Union team . He was part of the Scotland’s 2011 Six Nations squad and later was named in the Andy Robinsons’
initial 40-man squad for their 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC) campaign.
Harley was named as the stand in captain of the Warriors in absence of the Alistair Kellock, who was on the national duty for the Scotland in the 2011 RWC tournament.
