In terms of....women(!), friendliness/passion in people, atmosphere etc....is Glasgow the best in the UK? I ask because southern places and London can seem cold in comparison.

  1. Yes Glasgow is best. I'm English but I love Scotland in general and Glasgow in particular.

  2. Yes Glasgow is a fantastic city and on the whole people are really friendly and helpful to strangers

Like all places there are some issues , but overall it is certainly the friendliest city I have experienced . I worked all over the Uk over a number of years and certainly the South East us probably the least friendly to strangers . Nest to Glasgow I would probably go for |Liverpool

  3. yes, but can you understand what they are saying.

  4. Glasgow is the best city in the UK for everything!

As for people saying about bigotry in Glasgow....have you been to Glasgow in the last 10 years????? Bigotry really isnt a problem here anymore. People need to wake up to the Glasgow/Scotland that is now and stop living on the reputation of 20 + years ago.

  5. I'll put my oar in for Glasgow being the friendliest City in the UK, particularly given its size as the largest City in Scotland.  You normally expect to come across folks less friendly in a larger City, as they're more concerned with their own lives, but in Glasgow, the proportion of people you'll find willing to speak to you, assist you or at the very least acknowledge your existence is very large indeed.

I agree with the suggestion that every City has its problems, and of course Glasgow isn't like Hobbiton, but by and large you should find that if you come here for a while, you'll enjoy your stay and be made to feel very welcome.

  6. There is more Biggortry in Glasgow than you will find anywhere else in the UK, ( so i would say no )

  7. My kids were all born there - was married there - was educated there- but haved not lived there for many years . Biggest problem was the biggotry and the pathetic  Rangers / Celtic scenario .

  8. Glasgow is a fantastic City. There are great shops, pubs, clubs, restaurants, parks, museums and the friendliest people you could ever wish to meet too.

  9. Of course it is.  I have been to many places over the UK and Scotland in particular, and the people with the best sense of humour, who are the most welcoming and accepting are the Glaswegians.  They are warm and friendly and generally very helpful.

Okay, there are good and bad everywhere and Glasgow has it's fair share of problems, but generally, it's a very good place.

    Let Glasgow Flourish!  ;)

  10. Great people from Glasgow?

  11. Everybody in Britain is nice in their own way.  In London they show this by not being very nice at all.

Glasgow is great, and seems to have a high proportion of caring friendly people.  Alas it also has stupid bigots who crowd up the Subway, drunken idiots who flood the city centre every weekend and that guy who tried to molest my girlfriend.  He looked like Ja Rule so if you see him, punch him in the mouth.

Anyway, everywhere has good and bad people.  It depends what you look for in where you live.

  12. Of course we are. On local radio today the guy said 'you know you are in scotland when the people talk to you because we are so friendly'

  13. I'm from Edinburgh and can happily say that the Glaswegians (our city rivals!) are absolutely the nicest people in the uk. so much friendlier than your average edinburgher/londoner (sorry folks, going on my own experience)

  14. try leeds the coca cola is cheaper and night life rocks as for glasgow been there done that did not buy the tee shirt
