Question:

Glass in Papa John's Pizza?

We ordered 2 pizzas tonight in Shreveport, LA 1 Medium Works and 1 Medium Meat. Well 1/3 of the way into the pizza my wife bites off the crust portion and begins to chew and bites into shards of glass, one of which I was able to recover. I called Papa Johns who offered me a free pizza to replace it and basically called me a liar saying none of their products are packaged, stored, or made with anything glass, and that the only glass in the store was in the windows and monitors on the computers. I filed a complaint with corporate. Is there anything else I can or should do? Has anyone else had anything like this happen???

  1. Wow! This sucks cause i love papa johns.. But how can there be a piece of glass? That's crazy. Well I'm not sure what else you can do beside going to corporate. The only thing corporate will do is good you free stuff.. SO if your serious take pictures of the evidence and perhaps get a lawyer. I mean what do you want them to do for you? It's not like there going to be able to take what happen back! Good Luck!

  2. theres nothing more you will get other than the offer of a free pizza. unless you save the entire pizza and you are lucky enough to have police find another glass shard, you will not be able to file a lawsuit. unfortunately its your word verse theirs and something as absurd as a piece of glass will make you seem like a liar.

  3. i think wut u did was good, SUE THE STUPID PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. If this really happened, save the pizza and don't tamper with it.  Also, save the portion your wife bit into.  If you think she sustained any injury, consult a doctor for his professional opinion.  Get a good attorney. The glass could have come from the main suppliers of one of their ingredients.  I opened a can of cream of tomato soup once and there was a bug and a chunk of cardboard in it.  Stupid me, I threw it out.  To this day, I can't eat canned soup.

  5. My aunt bit into glass in food from a Wienerschnitzel about 15 years ago. She sued and won. It left an injury in her mouth and she had to be seen by a doctor.

  6. yeah say she swallowed some and sue the pants off em!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I have a seriously hard time believing your story.

Your wife should have been seen immediately by a doctor, who would have provided documentation you would need to pursue the matter.

If there were multiple shards of glass, you should have been able to collect several pieces, to better substantiate the claim.

Like most pizza places, they don't produce dough in the store-- it is made in a central location and trucked in in sealed containers in a refrigerated truck.  (if someone were to mix glass into the recipe, more than just one dough ball/crust should have been affected.)

Bare hands are used to stretch and shape the dough.  Why wasn't a pizza guy cut while making the pie?

Finally, if you were truly damaged by Papa John's pizza, you should have spoken to a personal injury lawyer and/or the local police.  Your complaint would be well-documented, and your attorney would be responsible for contacting the company, filing the lawsuit, and protecting your rights.

If you are for real, the next step must be talking to a lawyer.

If you aren't for real, I hope Papa Johns makes sure you never make false accusations again.

Glass in a consumer product would be a major news story (like the poisoned Tylenol of the 1980's...) and Papa John would be all over the news...
