Will wearing contact lens harm our eyes in the future?

I wanted to buy non-prescription color contacts, but my mom said that it will result in severe after effects when I'm older. And because of that, I'm not allowed to buy contact lens. So, I'm just wondering whether what my mom said, is true or an excuse for me to not buy contacts. ^

I just wanted to try using contacts and my eyes do not require any sort of correction.

pls help ?

  1. they are both good. if you play sports, or anything that can damage your glasses, then you should get contacts. if you get contacts, they are good as long as you dont sleep with them, or swim with them, or shower with them on. if you do that water might go into your eyes and it will hurt. you should keep them on about 10 or less hrs a day, and they arent bad for your eyes. glasses are good too, because contatcs are sometimes hard to put in your eyes, and it feels wierd and different for some people. so it reallyy depends on the person.

  2. regular contacts can result in dry eyes, while colored contacts can affect the color pigment( I think).

Contact lens and glasses both have their pros and cons. But I have both and both work fine for me.

  3. I have both but wear contacts most of the time.  I prefer my vision and appearance with contacts over glasses.  If you take care of your lenses and your eyes you should not have any trouble wearing contacts.  I generally wear mine 14-16 hours a day and was commended by my eye doctor how well I cared for them and how healthy my eyes were on my last visit a few weeks ago.  He asked what I was doing so he could tell his other patients.  I was really flattered.

You would still need a prescription for them even if your vision does not require any correction.

  4. get glasses

contacts are more risky to the eyes, and can cause much lack of oxygen in your eye if your wear them for a long time
