Glassawine favourite for Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Handicap Hurdle
David Pipe’s trainee, Glassawine, has been given the best odds for the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Handicap Hurdle at Exeter in England on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. The winner will bag a cash prize of £3,574.
The 2 mile 3 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 3:00 GMT, has attracted 13 entries and they are: Bendant, Cloudy Bob, Glassawine, Josh´s Dreamway, Silver Footnote, Inspector Qics, Isleofhopendreams, Arctic Watch, Hail Tiberius, Nicks Power,
Taffy Thomas, Timetoring and Strategic Plan.
Today’s favourite, Glassawine has participated in three races over hurdles until now, winning none of them. He still has the best odds for victory, as he does have a couple of third place finishes to his name.
The five-year-old gelding has mostly been impressive since making his debut in the sport. He is in very good shape at the moment and the punters will be interested in placing a lot of bets over his victory.
Glassawine will be partnered by veteran jockey, Tom Scudamore, who has earned 159 victories over hurdles in his career. He is one of the best in the business and will be looking forward to a solid run today.
On the other hand, Bendant will also be the one to watch out for today. He is relatively new to the sport, but has earned a couple of victories in eight of his outings so far. He has the winning momentum on his side, as he was triumphant at Chepstow
in February, this year.
The seven-year-old gelding, trained by Debra Hamer, has the confidence of the bookmakers and the bettors will also be encouraged to put some money on him. He will be ridden by one of the most experienced jockeys in the sport, Paddy Brennan.
The veteran rider has got a terrific strike rate and has stormed to victory in 189 races over hurdles. He will be confident of adding another one to his tally at Exeter today.
Josh´s Dreamway, trained by Jeremy Scott, might be able to cause a few problems for the top two favourites, but the rest of the runners do not seem to have any chances of winning today.
Glassawine and Bendant are pretty much evenly matched runners and both are expected to entertain the spectators at Exeter today.
