Glasses and contacts question! please answer!?

I decided to switch from glasses to contacts but I want both glasses and contacts so I can switch to give my eyes a break from contacts. All I told the eye doctor was, I wanted contacts assuming that contact wearers always have to had glasses as back up. So I thought that I would get contacts and glasses together automatically without telling them. But I don't think I'm getting glasses because they didn't measure my eyes for glasses.

my eye doctor told me they'll call me when they get my trail pairs and that they would set up an appointment for me to come in for my training to put on my contacts. that is all they said. So does that mean they will measure my eyes for contacts when I come in for the training?

What does that trail pair do? Will they measure my eyes for glasses when I come in for contacts training? and if not, would it make me sounds stupid and annoying when I ask to get glasses when they already think i only wanted contacts? You think they will get mad and annoyed

  1. Generally, the glasses prescription is established first and used as a basis for the contact prescription.  Ask your doctor for a copy of the prescription and then you'll be able to select frames or replace the lenses in your current frames.  When the trial pair of contacts comes, they'll place them on  your eyes, check to make sure they fit and that you can see properly.  Then they will make adjustments, if need be, and have you test-drive the lenses for a few days.  After this, they should do a follow-up evaluation to make sure you adapted appropriately.  It will be at this time that the contact lens prescription will be established.

They won't get mad about you asking for your glasses Rx.  Contact lens wearers should, indeed, have a back-up pair of glasses.

  2. Sounds like you should call them back and ask for glasses. They probably think you only wanted contacts. I had to buy my glasses first before I could even get contacts, because I couldn't afford both at the same time, and my doctor told me that I should definitely get glasses first. Since you guys didn't even talk about it you may want to call back and mention it.

A trial pair is where they give you contacts with your prescription to try out to see how you like it.

But you should take all these questions you have and call your eye doctor and ask them yourself. Trust me, it's what they're paid to do. If they get mad or annoyed then they are not a good place to go and you should switch doctors!
